Anyone with children and a family knows this: The free time available for hobbies like gaming or watching TV shows is becoming increasingly scarce. For this reason, I don’t get to binge-watch like I used to. The hour before bedtime has to be filled meaningfully. Instead of watching one episode of a new series, we decided to watch three episodes of the new Big Bang Theory season. We were very curious to see if the series could still entertain after 11 seasons:
Everyone is happy!?
I’m going to assume that anyone who reads the article on season 12 already knows what the show is about. So I won’t go into the basic plot any further.
Now that everyone except Raj is married (yes, even Sheldon), you’d think everyone would be happy and there wouldn’t be any problems for new episodes. Of course that’s not the case. We all know that, there are always minor arguments. Penny and Leonard and Howard and Bernadette have to deal with them too. For both couples, the topic of children is the big issue. For the first two, because Penny doesn’t really want children, and for the others, because two children cause a lot of stress.
Sheldon and Amy are also facing some minor relationship problems. Although it might not have been expected in previous seasons, the two are actually married. It goes without saying that this isn’t easy for either of them.
With so much “harmony,” Raj naturally doesn’t want to be alone anymore and abandons the usual search for a partner. He asks his father to arrange a wedding and find him a bride. Naturally, this doesn’t go as smoothly as expected either.
And yes, even Stewart finally manages to find someone in season 12.

The Nobel Prize
The main theme of the season, however, is clearly Sheldon and Amy’s attempt to win the Nobel Prize. Since their honeymoon, the two have been working on super-asymmetry. This seems to be working well at first, until two would-be physicists try to challenge them for the prize, claiming they proved the theory by pure chance. It goes without saying that Sheldon has a tough time winning over the jury.
So, it remains exciting until the final episode to see whether the two will succeed in winning the Nobel Prize.
Is season 12 still worth watching?
So if you didn’t get into the show after 11 seasons, you certainly won’t like the 12th either. As a fan of the series, I really enjoyed this season. It once again had a lot of wit, humor, and many references to all sorts of nerdy topics. I also thought the supporting cast was excellent. The two physicists who want to win the Nobel Prize were a particularly good fit for the series and are excellently cast with Kal Pen and Sean Astin. There are also many guest appearances by well-known stars, such as William Shatner and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
I was also really happy that the series came to a really nice ending. I don’t want to give too much away, but I didn’t feel the same way as I did after the last season of Game of Thrones, Lost or How I Met Your Mother. You see, there are too many series that haven’t managed that. After the last episode, I was just sad that the series was over. What I always appreciated about Big Bang Theory was that the episodes were always really entertaining. Simply the perfect series to switch off in the evening on the sofa after a stressful day, without it being too trivial. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a replacement for it yet.
